Our limits

What We Do Not Take On

We work on residential garage doors - torsion and extension springs, openers, tracks, panels, rollers, cables. We don't do commercial rolling steel doors or fire-rated doors, and we don't touch gate operators.

Specialty overseas orders

If your door is a custom architectural piece with parts that need a specialty order from overseas, we'll tell you that up front rather than string out a job we can't finish right. We also won't try to sell you a full door replacement when a spring and a tune-up will get you another decade out of the one you have.

Original 1960s-era hardware

A lot of the houses on this side of Framingham went up between 1938 and 1993, with most of that stock dating to the 1960s and '70s - F1 and F2 both point the same direction. That means original hardware that's old but often still serviceable: steel doors, standard torsion springs, openers that have been swapped once or twice but tracks that are original.

Discontinued part limits

We fix what's there before we replace it. One honest limit: if a part is genuinely discontinued and the manufacturer's gone, we can't manufacture a match on the truck. Some older sectional doors from that era used proprietary track brackets, and sourcing those can take longer than a same-week repair. We'll say so instead of guessing at a timeline.

Our team

Who Turns Up

The person who comes to your door is the one who diagnoses the spring tension, checks the track alignment, and does the repair - not a dispatcher reading a script.

Winter spring stress

Cold-climate work means dealing with steel that contracts and springs that lose tension faster in winter; F3 puts this area in the severe end of the cold climate band, which shows up every January as frozen tracks, stiff springs, and openers straining against doors that won't lift the way they did in August.

Stocked common spring sizes

We carry common torsion spring sizes and standard opener parts because that's what most of the housing stock around here actually needs - again, back to F1 and F2. We're not going to show up with a truck stocked for commercial installs when the job in front of us is a 1968 split-level with a door that's stuck halfway up.

No inflated credentials

We don't inflate what we are. No team roster, no truck count, no years-in-business claim - we'd rather you judge us on the door working right when we leave than on a number we put on a page.

Service area

The Areas We Cover

We're based at 4 California Ave in Framingham, MA 01701, and most of our calls come from within about a 12-mile radius. That covers Ashland and Cochituate at around 4 miles, Southborough, Natick, Cordaville, Sudbury, and Wayland near 5 miles, Sherborn and Marlborough at 6 miles, and Hopkinton at 7 miles.

Further out we still get to Weston, Wellesley, Holliston, and Maynard around 8 miles, Stow at 9 miles, and a ring of towns at 10 to 12 miles including Dover, Westborough, Millis, West Concord, Lincoln, Medway, Northborough, Medfield, Concord, Berlin, Milford, Acton, Bolton, and Upton.

A brown garage door is on a cedar-shingled house with a porch and lit windows.

Across this service area there are roughly 422,524 households and about 199,031 owner-occupied houses, with median household income around $141,440 - a mix that runs from older colonials to newer builds, but concentrated in that mid-century band we mentioned above. If you're outside this radius, call first and we'll tell you honestly whether the drive makes sense for the job.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on doors from the 1960s and '70s?

Yes - that's most of what we see. A large share of houses in this area were built between 1938 and 1993, with the bulk from the 1960s and '70s. Original torsion hardware and steel panel doors from that era are common calls for us, and we carry the spring sizes and opener parts that fit them.

How far out from Framingham do you go?

Typically up to about 12 miles - towns like Ashland, Natick, Sudbury, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Westborough, Concord, and Milford fall in that range. If you're further out, call 15082168300 and we'll tell you straight whether it's a trip we can make.

Do winters here cause more breakdowns?

This area sits in a severe cold climate band, and that matters for garage doors - steel contracts, lubricant stiffens, and springs lose tension faster in deep cold. January and February calls for stuck tracks and strained openers are common for exactly that reason.

Will you always recommend replacing the door?

No. A lot of the older doors around here just need a spring, a cable, or a track adjustment, not a full replacement. We'll tell you when repair makes sense and when it doesn't, rather than pushing a new door when the existing one has years left in it.
